Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVOH)

Polyvinyl alcohol is a water-soluble synthetic polymer used to increase viscosity in pharmaceuticals and as a lubricant and protectant in ophthalmic preparations. It can augment the delivery of the active ingredient in formulations and is also used to enhance solubility. It is used in tablet coatings to protect the tablet from environmental humidity.
