Polybut 10

Polybut 10 is a light coloured, non-drying, sticky liquid which is non-toxic, permanently tacky and UV stable. It has thermal stability and is soluble in mineral oil. It is tasteless and odourless. In cosmetics and personal care products, polybutanes have applications in formulation of lipsticks, eye and facial make up and in skin care and sun care products. Polybutanes increase the thickness of the lipid portion, bind ingredients together and dry to form a thin coating on the skin, hair or nails. The lower molecular weight polybutanes are very viscous, soft, and tacky semi-liquids while the higher molecular weight are tough and elastic rubbery solids.
