Methyl t-Butyl Ether

Methyl t-butyl ether (also known as MTBE) is a volatile, colourless liquid that is sparingly soluble in water. It is used as a solvent and extractant. Miscible with organic solvents in all ratios, it is chemically stable in alkaline medium as well as in the presence of weak acids, air and oxygen.
