Luxsil

Luxsil® Cosmetic Microspheres are hollow beads of fused amorphous borosilicate used as fillers and texture enhancements in cosmetic formulations and personal care products to impart smooth silky/luxurious feel and improved application properties. Luxsi®l adds lubricity to pressed powders, eye shadows, face creams, emulsions and anhydrous systems. It is a good dispersing aid. Because it is spherical, it breaks up agglomerates to give a more homogeneous dispersion which helps eliminate streaking. Luxsil® can also be used to detactify emulsions without increasing viscosity. Luxsil® decreases viscosity (because it is spherical), allowing increased "play time" (time to apply product before it dries), enhancing a formulations’ flow and spread properties and facilitating a more uniform application. Luxsil® has is more transparent than most powders, does not whiten the formulation, and, due to the spheres’ hollow aspect, it redirects light, imparting a "soft focus" look, particularly suitable for non-glossy, or matte finishes. Luxsil® is less expensive than most spherical powders (nylon, PMMA), does not absorb resins or oils, and with a density of 1.1 g/cc, less weight is needed. Luxsil is effective at low dosages (5-10%). Luxsil® Cosmetic Microspheres are non-porous and so they do not absorb resins or oils. In many applications, the addition of Microspheres allows better utilisation of expensive ingredients like pigments.
