Following the launch of the new Ti-Pure TS-4657 titanium dioxide for inks, research has been under way to help formulators achieve the best results for dispersion of the product.
Researchers tested the efficacy of wetting and dispersing additives for water-based systems, UV-curing and those using an eco-friendly solvent. Results were assessed in relation to viscosity reduction, storage stability, particle size, syneresis and settling. Optimal results were achieved with the following:
DISPERBYK-2010 (10% solids on pigment)
DISPERBYK-2018 (10% solids on pigment)
DISPERBYK-2152 (5% and 10% s.o.p.)
DISPERBYK-2205 (5% and 10% s.o.p.)
DISPERBYK-2152 (10% s.o.p.)
DISPERBYK-2159 (10% s.o.p.)
DISPERBYK-2200 (10% s.o.p.)
DISPERBYK-2205 (10% s.o.p.)
The pigment dosage was 55% Ti-Pure TS-4657 titanium dioxide pigment for water, and 50% for eco solvent and UV monomer.
